Marielba Rojas - Biography

Biography


Marielba Rojas received a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science from Simón Bolívar University in Sartenejas, Venezuela, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Computational Science and Engineering from Rice University. Her research interests are the numerical solution of large-scale inverse problems by means of linear algebra and optimization techniques.


After finishing her Ph.D., Dr. Rojas held postdoctoral positions in Computational and Applied Mathematics at Rice University; Informatics at the University of Bergen, Norway; and Parallel Algorithms at CERFACS in Toulouse, France. In 2002, she became an Assistant Professor in Mathematics at Wake Forest University. She left Wake Forest in 2006 to accept a position as an Associate Professor in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the Technical University of Denmark. In the Fall of 2009, Dr. Rojas joined the scientific staff of the Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics at the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands.

Dr. Rojas is originally from Venezuela, a beautiful country on the northern part of South America. She has many interests including Roger Federer's tennis, reading, movies, art, languages, scrapbooking, traveling, cooking, and hiking.

Her main hobby is photography.
